Jorge Masvidal vs. Leon Edwards booked for UFC 269
Welterweight contenders Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal will meet on the UFC 269 pay-per-view main card on Dec. 11. MMA reporter Ariel Helwani first reported the news on Monday.
Masvidal (35-15) is ranked No. 6 in the UFC’s 170-pound division while Edwards (21-3, 1 NC) is ranked No. 3, and the two have history. They both fought on the UFC on ESPN+ 5 fight card in March 2019. During Masvidal’s post-fight interview, he and Edwards exchange words before Masvidal hit Edwards with a combination and coined the phrase, “three piece and a soda.”
Edwards will be looking to keep his winning streak alive and potentially earn a title shot with a win over Masvidal. Edwards has not lost a fight since December 2015. The loss was to current champion Kamaru Usman by unanimous decision.

Masvidal is coming off back-to-back losses to Usman, but was riding a three-fight win streak heading into the Usman fights. All three of those wins were by knockout.
UFC 269 is expected to featured two title fights. Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira puts his title on the line for the first time against former interim champion Dustin Poirier and duel-division titleholder Amanda Nunes faces Julianna Pena for the women’s bantamweight championship.
