The trial between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal hasn’t happened yet but we’re finally learning more details about the alleged assault of Covington outside of a Miami steakhouse on March 21.

The audio, shared on YouTube by “Real World Police” details the moments right before and right after the alleged assault.

“As soon as we’re about to walk across the street I get sideswiped from the from the side and I get punched in the mouth real quick,” Covington tells police in the video. “And kind of get dizzed up and look up and see who it is. I can see in his eyes it’s Jorge Masvidal. I can see his hair coming out of his hoodie. But he has a face mask on the surgical face mask but he’s saying ‘you shouldn’t have f-king talked about my kid. You shouldn’t have f-king talked about my kids.’ So I was easily able to identify. Like that’s his voice, that’s his eyes, that’s his hair. I know exactly who that is.”

Covington then went on to explain what Masvidal did to him that night.

“He took two quick punches to me like it happened so fast when we were crossing the street to go to my car to leave to go to the next place that he came from the side and bom bom two fast clips at me and then like we’re like squared up. And I’m like getting him off from me because he’s with like a couple of people. And there was like one bigger guy that has his fists clenched, and he was gonna come at me but I was able to get away from Jorge, run back in Papi Steakhouse. I went behind the bar, I called the police station and I waited for your guys’ arrival.

Masvidal was charged with “single counts of felony aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm and criminal mischief” according to MMA Junkie and entered a not-guilty plea.

Shortly after news of the altercation began making it’s rounds, Masvidal posted a video on Twitter boasting about the attack but deleted it shortly after.

“I mean, I definitely suffered the injury to my tooth. He chipped my front tooth and knocked it out,” Covington said in the audio. “I mean, the adrenaline is still kind of going right now, but he definitely rocked me. I saw stars a little bit, but I stayed on my feet. I was just trying to get to safety. That’s all I was concerned about.”

There is also an additional video of Masvidal at the police station being placed in handcuffs and arrested for the incident. It can be viewed here.

Masvidal has a pre-trial hearing set for Feb. 15, with an anticipated trial date of Feb. 27.
