2024 Professional Fighters League (PFL) Featherweight champion, Timur Khizriev, is currently hospitalized after recently being shot five times in Makhachkala, Dagestan.

According to Russian outlet VestnikMMA, which also obtained video of the incident, reported that, “Two masked men ambushed Timur in the courtyard of a residential building on Daniyalov Street. When he got out of the Gelendvagen, the attackers opened fire. The athlete was hit by 5 bullets from a traumatic pistol. Khizriev is in surgery, alive.”

For the purposes of clarification, a traumatic pistol is a type of non-lethal firearm that typically fires projectiles like rubber bullets and/or other less-lethal rounds, designed for self-defense or crowd control.

Nevertheless, checkout the wild video below:

Khizriev’s management told MMAJunkie that, “he’s currently hospitalized, but is fine and life is not in danger.”

Khizriev (18-0) won PFL’s 2024 Featherweight season, going undefeated (4-0) and then battering former PFL champion, Brendan Loughnane, via unanimous decision to win the $1 million prize and title (watch highlights).

He was not inserted into PFL’s 2025 Featherweight tournament for unknown reasons.

The 29-year-old Russian also competed in Bellator, defeating notable names such as Richie Smullen, Justin Gonzales and Daniel Weichel.

Heal up, “IMAM.”
