Cory Sandhagen doesn’t rely on trash talk to promote his fights, but may find himself in a situation where he needs to uncork a couple of one-liners, just in case Deiveson Figueiredo tries to get mouthy ahead of their UFC Des Moines headliner this weekend in Iowa.
Sandhagen is ranked one spot above the Brazilian in the official UFC rankings.
“So, I’m not really much of a trash talker, so I kind of need to use modern-day technology to help me be prepared for, you know, all of the trash talk,” Sandhagen said during his latest video blog. “ChatGPT helps me write these.”
Figueiredo fights like a guy who knows his prime ended the night Moreno took his soul.
“Pretty mean, ChatGPT.”
He walks around like he’s a champ, but every fight lately looks like a retirement audition.
“Didn’t know you had to audition for retirement.’‘
His ego is still in the title picture, but his skills are stuck in the prelims.
“I didn’t make this up, this is ChatGPT saying all this mean stuff,” Sandhagen continued. “Definitely gonna have these ready, you know, just in case I gotta hit him with some one-liners. Who’s smarter than the AI robots controlling our lives now?”
It’s too bad Paul Buentello didn’t have ChatGPT at UFC 57.
Sandhagen (17-5) is looking to rebound from his unanimous decision loss to Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC Abu Dhabi back in Aug. 2024. As for Figueiredo (24-4-1), he snapped a three-fight winning streak with his unanimous decision loss to former champion Petr Yan atop the UFC Macau fight card last fall.
