Coming out of UFC 317, it seemed like lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett was going to fight Ilia Topuria for the 155-pound title, which “El Matador” captured with a first-round finish over former division champion Charles Oliveira last weekend in Las Vegas.
Then middleweight kingpin Dricus Du Plessis made a stunning admission ahead of his UFC 319 pay-per-view (PPV) main event title fight against Khamzat Chimaev, recently made official for Sat., Aug. 16, 2025 inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
“It’s gonna be a big card,” Du Plessis told Ahmed Amwell. “The co-main event is Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje. That’s an awesome fight.”
While the promotion has not made any sort of official announcement (probably because of this), the bookies at BetOnline.ag were quick to post opening odds for Pimblett vs. Gaethje, as well as the rest of the UFC 319 fight card in the “Windy City.”
