Yuck?
With UFC 317 in the rear-view mirror, the next pay-per-view (PPV) event, UFC 318, is going down in three weeks (Sat., July 19, 2025) inside Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In the main event, former Featherweight champion Max Holloway takes on Dustin Poirier for the third time and will defend his “BMF” title.
Announced during UFC 317’s broadcast, UFC 318’s PPV main card leaves much to be desired.
Obviously, Poirier’s retirement is the selling point, and his second fight with Holloway back at UFC 236 was amazing, but is that fight worth 80 bucks?
The co-main event pits Dan Ige against Patricio Pitbull. While intriguing, Pitbull’s lackluster UFC debut dampens excitement. The “featured” bout features Ateba Gautier, aka Mini Ngannou, against Robert Valentin, who is 0-2 in the Octagon.
Rounding out the main card are Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov—a rescheduled fight from last weekend—andMichael Johnson vs. Daniel Zellhuber.
Look, while these matchups could deliver, charging mixed martial arts (MMA) fans $80 for this PPV feels excessive, and the fanbase isn’t thrilled.
