No. 2-ranked women’s Flyweight contender, Manon Fiorot, gets her shot at glory at UFC 315 this weekend (Sat., May 10, 2025) when she faces the greatest 125-pound champion in history, Valentina Shevchenko, inside Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

For only the third time in her storied UFC career, Shevchenko enters as the betting underdog. The previous instances were her trilogy bout against Alexa Grasso at UFC 306 and her fight against former Bantamweight champion,Holly Holm.

Is Shevchenko’s underdog status because of her shocking title loss to Grasso two years ago? Has her dominance waned? Or, is it because Fiorot remains unbeaten in the Octagon?

According to Shevchenko’s French opponent, she’s simply not the best female fighter anymore.

“I think she’s not the best woman in the world,” Fiorot told MMAFighting.com recently. “She’s not as dominant as she was a few years ago because of the level of the division. When I saw her fight against Taila Santos, it was a split decision, and it was tight. The same thing with her fight with Grasso — losing that one fight.

“Yeah, definitely the level of the Flyweight division is higher than in the past,” she concluded.

Fiorot has been oozing confidence since the fight was announced, claiming she will be the one to retire “Bullet.”

For what it’s worth, Shevchenko took it personally to an extent, saying she has never felt this level of disrespect before, as expressed during UFC 315 media day (watch here).
