Bo knows! (he faces a massive weight cut).
That’s because Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight phenom, Bo Nickal, arrived at UFC Des Moines fight week a staggering 37 pounds more than the division’s 186-pound limit (in non-title fights).
Indeed, today (Tues., April 29, 2025) Nickal shared a video showing a scale reading of 222 pounds just three days before he must hit his mark for Friday’s early morning weigh-ins.
Welcome to the Big Fight Week Weight Cut Club, sir.
Watch the video below:
“Gonna be long week,” Nickal wrote.
Shedding 37 pounds before a fight sounds daunting, but as a lifelong wrestler, Nickal is likely accustomed to extreme weight cuts, so it may not hinder him significantly.
However, there are some skeptical fans who pointed out a few things:
Notice he’s not in the picture when it shows the number
He’s wearing full clothes, he’s probably closer to 212, still he’s huge
The camera cuts cuts before it shows the weight, he definitely not 220
The three-time NCAA Division I national champion from Penn State University (PSU) will likely address his weight during UFC Des Moines media day tomorrow, clarifying whether he’s truly 37 pounds over.
Regardless, Nickal faces former ONE Championship two-division champion, Reinier de Ridder, in UFC Des Moines’ the co-main event inside Wells Fargo Arena in Iowa.
