Rolly Romero shocked the boxing world with a big upset of a flat Ryan Garcia on Friday night, beating “King Ryan” via unanimous decision and messing up Golden Boy and boxing power broker Turki Alalshikh’s attempts to set up a big money rematch between Ryan and Devin Haney.

Romero was a +500 dog to Garcia’s -900 favorite, but he knocked down Garcia in the second round and stayed disciplined to earn a clearcut 115-112, 115-112, 118-110 decision. He was gracious through the post-fight press conference, but let his annoyance with all the promotional bias flow out in an Instagram Live video.

“They didn’t have a f—ing hotel room for me,” Romero said. “They f—ed up my gloves. They didn’t give me a per diem or nothing. I didn’t care. I kept it cool. They didn’t f—ing put no damn money in escrow or nothing. And look at this s—. They all had a f—ing plan & look at this s—. I destroyed everything they f—ing had!”

This wasn’t the first time Romero discussed how frustrating it was not being taken seriously in the whole promotion of the fight and what was next.

“They clearly already made up their mind of what’s next,” he told FightHubTV. “There’s nothing to derail. I don’t care what happens next because it has nothing to do with me. There’s no ‘When I knock out Ryan Garcia, I derailed it and I’m next in line for Devin Haney.’ Like no, they already made up their minds. It’s clear they’ve made up their mind. They’re trying to use [me], but that’s not really the way you should do business.”

Romero was right, there was no official talk of him moving on to fight Haney following his win over Garcia. And there were few accolades from Alalshikh, who later shared a picture with Ryan Garcia.

“I just hung up the phone with Ryan Garcia and I fully support him,” Turki wrote. “He will come back better than ever.”
