Now that UFC is planning an event on the White House lawn next Independence Day fighters are starting to express their interest in joining the festivities.
Of course, this happens to include former UFC double champion Conor McGregor, who despite not competing since July 2021 is looking for a chance to fight at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. “Notorious” took to social media early Friday and said he would be “honored” to compete on the White House lawn.
Later on into the afternoon, McGregor jumped back on social media and teased a long-awaited showdown with Michael Chandler for July 4, 2026. Remember, McGregor and Chandler have been trying to fight for years now, but injuries and inactivity on McGregor’s side ultimately put a kibosh on those plans. It seems McGregor is once against interested in a fight with Chandler.
“The only place where disputes truly get settled. The White House,” wrote McGregor alongside an AI-generated photo of himself and Chandler having a staredown on the White House lawn.

“To return at the White House with my sniper accuracy would be a very intriguing offer and would bring me back in to focus on my return correctly.”
Chandler, who wasted part of his UFC career waiting for a chance to fight McGregor, will seemingly do anything to get his hands on “Notorious.” The lightweight veteran wasted little time in responding to McGregor and accepting his invitation to fight next July 4th.
“Anybody fancy a good old-fashioned, passionate red, white, and blue ass whoopin on the lawn of the White House?” wrote Chandler.
The UFC’s proposed event at the White House will be something to watch over the next 12 months, but if they really want to put on the biggest spectacle ever adding a matchup between McGregor and Chandler would certainly do the trick.
