Gervonta “Tank” Davis passed on a rematch against Lamont Roach Jr. in favor of facing off against a much bigger — but less skilled — boxer in Jake Paul in an exhibition bout later this year despite being out-weight by over 60 pounds. Now, Roach Jr. is moving on from a do-over against “Tank,” as well.

During the debut episode of the Inside The Ring Show with Max Kellerman, boxing insider Mark Coppinger revealed that Roach will face off against hard-hitting Mexican-born fighter, Issac “Pitbull” Cruz in December at a location that has yet-to-be determined.

Cruz is coming off a unanimous decision win over Omar Salcido this past summer to win the vacant WBC interim Super Lightweight title, Like Roach Jr., Cruz had a close fight against Tank way back in December 2021, with many feeling “Pitbull” should have been declared the winner. The same goes for Roach Jr., as most fight fans agreed he had done enough to beat Davis, but a bizarre no-call on a knockdown manipulated the scorecards, possibly costing “The Reaper” a big win as it was eventually scored a majority draw.

Now, the two men will throw down in a bout that will be contested at 140 pounds one month after Tank faces off against Paul. assuming the boxing commissions gives it the green light. Pitbull will be coming in with a career record of 28-3-1 with 18 knockouts, while Roach Jr. is 25-1-2 with 10 knockouts on his resume.
