In case you missed it, Patchy Mix, has officially joined Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). And the former Bellator MMA Bantamweight champion aims to quickly become a 135-pound title contender.
Indeed, he faces No. 12-ranked Mario Bautista on three weeks’ notice at UFC 316 next month (Sat., June 7, 2025) inside Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. (details here), on a pay-per-view (PPV) card headlined by a Bantamweight title bout.
And the former Bellator kingpin plans to erase Bautista in incredible fashion.
“Now that I’m here, I have a chance to prove [I’m the best],” Mix told MMAMania.com. “And in three weeks, I plan to run him over, I plan to put him away. I know guys have finished him before, but I plan on putting him away to prove that I’m different from everyone else in this division and all these top-ranked guys.
“I’m 20-1 with 16 finishes,” Mix added. “I have more finishes and a better record than every single guy ranked right now.”
He’s not wrong — a dominant victory could position Mix to leapfrog contenders and challenge division champion, Merab Dvalishvili, provided “The Machine” defeats Sean O’Malley (again) in their rematch.
Should that matchup occur, it would be strictly professional for Mix … despite his friendship with Dvalishvili.
“A couple of months ago, we were in the gym, and I told him, ‘I don’t know what’s going to happen with my PFL deal, but I want to be upfront with you. I could potentially be coming over here, and if we fight, I hope it would be for the title down the line. It’s just business,’” Mix revealed.
“His dreams are the same as mine,” Mix concluded. “So, it doesn’t matter who’s in the way.”
Mix enters UFC riding a seven-fight win streak and has 13 submission wins.
