Melquizael Costa captured his fourth-straight win inside of the Octagon last night (Sat., May 17, 2025) at UFC Vegas 106 LIVE on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, but he nearly lost a toe in the process.
On Saturday, Costa was pitted against streaking featherweight veteran Julian Erosa in a fan-friendly matchup on the shortened ESPN+ main card. Costa was the betting favorite, but Erosa is as game as they come and was more than capable of playing spoiler. The two featherweights went toe-to-toe (no pun intended) for three hard round giving the few fight fans inside the UFC Apex a real show.
In the end, it was Costa who walked away with the unanimous decision victory to push his UFC record to 5-2. Fortunately for both featherweights, their main card clash was awarded Fight of the Night honors and they walked away with $50,000 each.
After the fight, both Costa and Erosa were transported to a local Las Vegas hospital to get some medical attention. Despite winning the fight, Costa needed a little more help than Erosa. That’s because “Melk Cauthy” suffered a nasty foot injury that nearly left him without a toe or two. Luckily, the hospital was able to stitch him up and send him on his way.
