It was a busy weekend in combat sports, with both UFC Vegas 107 and a boxing title fight between Caleb Plant vs. Armando Resendiz, as well as the return of Jermall Charlo, going down in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Maycee Barber may have had one of the worst weekend’s of her combat career after she came in heavy for her scheduled bout against Erin Blanchfield at UFC Vegas 107, which was eventually canceled after “The Future” suffered a medical emergency prior to walking out to the fight and was hospitalized (those details here).
But, which fighter is suffering from the worst post-fight hangover, now a few days removed from the show?
Caleb Plant.
That’s because Plant suffered his third loss in last five fights last Saturday (May 31, 2025) after he was upset by Resendiz, who became WBA’s new Super Middleweight interim champion following a stellar performance in “Sin City” (full highlights here).
It was a disappointing outing for Plant, who revealed after the loss that he was fighting through a right hand injury. Aside from losing his belt, the hard-hitting pugilist may have lost a big-time money fight against Jermall Charlo, who won in the co-main event against Thomas LaManna via a fifth round technical knockout.
Or, did he?
According to Charlo, while Plant may have dropped the ball against Resendiz, he still wants to get his revenge against his talented contemporary, who slapped him during a backstage brawl a few years ago (see it again here).
“Man, we got to go back to the drawing board with this one,” Charlo said after the fight via Bad Left Hook. “Caleb Plant dropped the ball. He looked out of shape, he couldn’t have fought me tonight. Yeah, I wish [our fight] would’ve happened [tonight], to answer your question. But I’m not here to bash nobody, talk down on nobody, but yeah, Caleb Plant dropped the ball on this one,” he added.
“I want my lick back. I still want my lick back, I don’t care if he got the belt or not. We can make a belt, they can make a belt, somebody make a belt. I want my lick back.,” he continued.
For Plant, a fight against Charlo is still at the top of his list, but revealed that an immediate rematch against Resendiz could be on the table, as well.
“I’d go right to the Charlo fight, but we got a rematch clause. I’m more than willing to run it right back,” said Caleb Plant at the post-fight press conference via Boxing News. “I’ll regroup with my team and see what’s next. I’m not easily discouraged.”
Anyone think a fight against Plant and Charlo should be booked immediately despite Saturday night’s outcomes to avoid losing it for good?
