The KSW welterweight championship was on the line at Saturday’s KSW 105 in Gliwice, Poland – but that was arguably far from the biggest fight on the card.
In terms of accolades and card placement, the rematch between Adrian Bartosiński and Andrzej Grzebyk took precedence, but the bulk of the star power, and literal bulk, went to super heavyweights Mariusz Pudzianowski and Eddie Hall.
“Pudzian” was long the biggest star in KSW, and despite competing less frequently in his 40s, remains an attraction for the Polish promotion. Hall, a fellow World’s Strongest Man winner, was making his MMA debut after falling short in boxing against Hafthor Júlíus Björnsson, another strongman who starred as The Mountain on Game of Thrones.
Also in the mix on Saturday was UFC and Bellator veteran Augusto Sakai, a Brazilian heavyweight looking to bounce back from a title fight loss to Phil De Fries.
