Kayla Harrison will have a chance to make history in the UFC 316 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event next month in Newark, NJ, when the Olympic gold medalist collides with reigning bantamweight champion Julianna Pena.
Harrison remains a sizable betting favorite over “The Venezuelan Vixen.”
In fact, you can have Harrison, 34, fight former 135-pound champions Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes at the same time and she will still emerge victorious. That’s because the former PFL champion is a different bread, according to her pinhead manager.
Hopefully he meant Julianna and not Julian Erosa.
It’s worth pointing out that Harrison (18-1) was defeated by Brazilian bruiser Larissa Pacheco back in late 2022. Under the UFC banner, the Olympian remains perfect at 2-0, having defeated Holly Holm (UFC 300) and Ketlen Vieira (UFC 307) in back-to-back fights.
The Vieira win left something to be desired, even by Harrison’s standards.
A fight against Rousey is off the table since the brain-rattled “Rowdy” has long-since retired but Nunes is expected to make her Octagon return later this year, where “Lioness” can finally deliver on this “mega-million dollar” super fight.
