Joaquin Buckley’s next fight is a five round main event in June against former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. But even with that big bout freshly signed, he still took the time to hang out in his home state of Missouri to catch UFC Kansas City … and heckle its headliner Ian Machado Garry.
Garry was clearly unimpressed with Buckley’s shenanigans on weigh-in day. While “The Future” was on the scale, “New Mansa” sidled up next to Ian’s wife in the crowd, leading to a tense moment between the two — watch the video below.
During an interview on fight night, Buckley explained this was all because Garry had been trash talking him during fight week, suggesting Joaquin “barely speaks English.”

“The reason why he don’t understand me is because I don’t speak cuckanese,” Buckley fired back. “You understand? So I can understand why he didn’t understand me the first time.”
This isn’t the first time Garry has been accused of being a cuck, or the second, or the twenty-second.
“When I was out there and he’s doing his weigh-ins, I’m not trying to get into his head or nothing like that,” he continued. “But when you talk like that, don’t act like I’m invisible when you see me. You talking about me, you saying my name, holla at me. Let me know something.”
“But his girl is very protective, protecting her man. She be using the baby like a shield, whatever, but it just is what it is, you know? I really wanted to see what Ian Gary is about and what he had to say to me in person.”
Buckley was also dismissive of Garry’s win over Carlos Prates at UFC Kansas City.
“I think it was trash,” he told Inside Fighting. “I really think Ian Garry had the potential to put it on Prates, but he tried to play it safe the whole time, tried to keep from getting knocked out. Obviously, we’ve seen that Prates, in that fifth round, he was trying to get to him and he turned Ian Garry into a booty boy. My man tryin’ to wrestle, my man tryin’ to hold on for dear life.”
“I feel like Ian Garry played himself. He really could have had a performance of the night type ending, but you know … too scared.”
Ian Machado Garry didn’t even wait to hear reporters tell him what Buckley said about the fight.
“That man is an absolute p—y,” Garry declared. “I don’t care for anything he has to say. Leave him to be him, and let’s move on.”
