Flyweight sensation Tatsuro Taira returned to the win column by defeating Hyun Sung Park atop the UFC Vegas 108 MMA event last weekend at APEX, a performance that was strong enough to send the 25 year-old Taira back into the Top 5 of the 125-pound rankings. As a result, Kai Kara-France has been bumped down one spot to No. 6, which still feels like a generous placement considering “Don’t Blink” has dropped three of his last four.

Elsewhere on the chart, Karol Rosa parlayed her unanimous decision victory over Nora Cornolle into an upgrade in the 135-pound rankings. The Brazilian takes over the No. 9 spot at the expense of Yana Santos. In addition, the bottom half of the heavyweight rankings got a facelift following the sudden departure of Martin Buday, giving Valter Walker some real estate in the No. 14 slot along with movement from Mick Parkin and Tallison Teixeira.
Here’s how the rankings are compiled, at least until AI takes over:
Rankings are generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
