Today’s UFC Vegas 107 weigh ins were nothing short of embarrassing for what is supposed to be the world’s premiere MMA promotion.
Headliner Maycee Barber missed weight for her Erin Blanchfield fight on ESPN this Sat. night (May 31) at APEX in Las Vegas and was not permitted to continue her cut on orders from the state athletic commission. Their five-round showdown is expected to continue as planned; however, Barber will be forced to pay a monetary fine (payable to Blanchfield) in order to proceed.
That’s not all.
The bantamweight battle between Ketlen Vieira and Macy Chiasson on the ESPN main card was hastily rebooked as a featherweight contest after “Fenomeno” was unable to continue cutting weight. In addition, Allan Nascimento was over the limit for his flyweight fracas opposite Jafel Filho.
Lastly, Trevin Giles was pulled from his Andreas Gustafsson catchweight bout after suffering an undisclosed injury. It is unknown if matchmakers will attempt to rebook the contest or send both fighters on their separate ways.
