A super fun Welterweight matchup is being rescheduled for “Windy City.”
No. 11-ranked Welterweight Geoff Neal and No. 13-seeded Carlos Prates are in talks to collide next month on Sat., Aug. 16, 2025, at UFC 319, inside United Center in Chicago, Ill, according to multiple sources. Laerte Viana first reported the news.
The two Top 15 knockout artists were first scheduled to fight at UFC 314; however, two weeks before the event, Neal pulled out to have elbow surgery.

Neal (16-6) got back into the win column in his last outing by defeating former UFC champion Rafael Dos Anjos (via knee injury) at UFC 308. Prior to that, “Handz of Steel” suffered back-to-back losses to Ian Machado Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov (highlights), which earned Fight of the Night.
The 34-year-old will put his No. 11 ranking on the line.

Prates (21-7) suffered his first UFC loss in his last fight to Garry and, in turn, snapped his 11-fight winning streak. Before dropping a unanimous decision at UFC Kansas City, Prates fought four times in 2024, knocking out all of his opponents, one of which included his first-ever main event win over Neil Magny at UFC Vegas 100 (watch highlights).
