It’s better to be safe than sorry …
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight contender, Melquizael Costa, went to war with Julian Erosa at UFC Vegas 106 last night (Sat., May 17, 2025), winning via unanimous decision from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The pair of 145-pound standouts were awarded “Fight of the Night” for their three-round brawl (it was awesome), but because they beat the life out of each other, both fighters were transported to the local hospital.
UFC company officials confirmed to MMAmania.com that Erosa and Costa were transported for precautionary head and face scans. The results are unknown at this time.
UPDATE: Erosa revealed via his Instagram that he has a broken orbital and a minor nose fracture
Costa (24-7) continues his absolutely terrific 2025, scoring his third win this year … in just a three-month timeframe. Indeed, the Brazilian smoked Andre Fili at UFC Seattle in Feb., then defeated Christian Rodriguezon short notice, and now Erosa.
By this rate, he may compete three more times this year.
Meanwhile, Erosa (31-12) — who was coming off the complete destruction of Darren Elkins last month at UFC 314 (watch highlights) — had his three-fight win streak snapped, in which all of those wins were first round stoppages.
